The J-Series family is a modular, AC (power supply hot swappable in any slot, n+1 redundancy) or DC powered (DUAL power supplies each can be individually hot swappable), in a 1U (EIA 310-D) Standard 19-inch chassis.
The J-Series 1U Chassis supports up to 10 slots. There are two styles of the basic J Series 1U chassis, both support cooled DFB. One is a 5 slot 1U chassis and the other is a 10 slot 1U configured as a 5-slot chassis connected back to back. Front and back LED show the status of all slots.
The J3U-Series is a modular, AC (power supply hot swappable in rear slots, n+1 redundancy) or DC powered (DUAL power supplies each can be individually hot swappable), in a 3U (EIA 310-D) Standard 19-inch chassis. The J3U-Series 3U Chassis supports up to 16 front slots. The J3U chassis supports both cooled and uncooled DFB laser along with RF, Optical switching, CWDM / DWDM and EDFA capabilities.

An expanded 10-slot J Chassis can hold up to 36 RF over Fiber modules – each can be either Tx or Rx, all are hot swappable J4 modules. The 1U chassis can include 18 RF over Fiber OZ450/OZ510/OZ516 units or 9 cooled DFB transceivers (TxRx).
The standard 5-slot J Chassis holds up to 16 OZ101 or 8 OZ450/OZ510/OZ516 modules. Both 1U J-Series chassis can also accommodate multiples of other high performance, broadband, fiber optic transceivers, transmitters and receivers. The 1U J-Chassis provides flexibility, scalability, and functionality to help construct multi-task, linear RFoF and Digital sub-systems.
The J400 RFoF module building blocks are based upon the OZ450, OZ510 or OZ516 products, and may be populated with up to 9 pairs of these transceivers or up to 18 individual transmitters and/or receivers.
The J84 RFoF building block consists of J4 products. The 5-Slot chassis can hold up to 16 individual, J4 modules with a non-redundant power supply and the 10-Slot chassis can be populated with up to 20 individual, J4 modules – front loaded and 32 individual J4 modules when front and rear loaded. Each of these RFoF Links is capable of carrying individual RF signals from 30 MHz to 6 GHz over single mode (SMF-28) fiber optic cable and (multimode fiber cable also available but limited to 3 GHz).
The J-Series chassis’ are powered by hot-swappable power supplies, either Universal 85 VAC to 260 VAC, 100 W power supplies, or DUAL -48V 100W each power supplies in a single slot. Either power supply can be plugged in any slot. The design allows for, current sharing, to improve the reliability. Complex alarm functions are available for each transmitter and receiver via a micro USB connector in the front and rear panel of the 1U J-Chassis and J3U. Front panel LED indicators provide visual status of each of the inserted module operation. Also, individual and the cumulative link status may be read with granularity down to individual parameters (e.g. received power, temperature, etc.). Utilizing a GbE managed switch in a single slot enable remote monitoring (via SNMP, ssh, or web GUI) of multiple chassis.
J400 Series REMOTE SLOT ENCLOSURE
Individual J-Modules are housed in J-Slots which can be used as standalone remote units. Each remote J-Slot enclosure can accept a single module, hence can be configured as a transceiver, receiver or individual transmitter. Also, it may hold up to 2 transmitters or 2 receivers. The remote J-Slot Enclosure is powered by DC +12 V power supplies (other DC supply inputs are available). Complex alarm functions are available via the micro USB connector and the front panel LED indicators provide visual indication of link status.
J800 Series REMOTE SLOT ENCLOSURE
Individual J-Modules are housed in J-Slots which can be used as standalone remote units. Each remote J-Slot enclosure can accept a single module, hence can be configured as a transceiver, receiver or individual transmitter. The J800 Series remote module can hold up to 4 transmitters or 4 receivers or any combination there—off each can be individually hot swapped. The remote J-Slot enclosure is powered by DC +12 V power supplies. Complex alarm functions are available via the micro USB connector and the front panel LED indicators provide visual indication of link status.
The J3U chassis can support any module in the J3U family. These modules run from IF,L/S/C/X/Ku/DBS and Ka-Bands as well Ethernet/ SNMP and TTL signals
Both the 1u J-series and J3U supports hot swappable J modules. The module family contains optical transmitters/receivers/transceivers, power supplies, CWDM/DWDM, RF conditioning (attenuators, combiners ), GbE stitch with full SNMP and web server capabilities
Complex alarm functions are available for each transmitter and receiver via a micro USB connector in the front and rear panel of the J3U-Chassis. Front panel LED indicators provide visual status to monitor each of the inserted module’s operation. Also, individual and the cumulative link status may be read with granularity down to individual parameters (e.g. received power, temperature, etc.) The USB connectivity enables up to 128 chassis each with 10 modules, each module with up to eight individual Tx or Rx can be monitored via single USB computer interface.
The fans are operated to maintain a customer-set maximum temperature. Dual supplies are recommended for 16- Slot version for redundancy.
All the J3U-Chassis power supplies (medical equipment grade) are hot-swappable and modular. Installing two (2) into a chassis provides redundancy
Number of power supplies can be up to 4, each with 100Watts in true current sharing mode. This feature is suitable for N+1 redundant systems or high current applications where two or more power supplies are paralleled.
Current sharing is achieved through a single wire connection (share bus) common to all of the paralleled modules. n + 1 redundancy, current sharing results in easier power system design and greater reliability. Our J3U is designed for power of up to 400W applications with full redundancy. Actual power can be tailored for the application to save money. Specially designed N+1 redundancy assures seamless operation. It allows powering from different AC sources for increased source redundancy.
